The Government's white paper for aviation, published in 2003, announced plans to allow continued growth at Aberdeen Airport. There are no plan for expansion as yet, but if passenger growth continues over the next few years, some kind of airport redevelopment has to be expected.

Any development that does occur will involve careful planning to minimise noise and pollution for residents in the surrounding areas. It is unlikely that this will prevent all noise disturbances in the surrounding areas, meaning that this expansion may have an impact on house prices; however, the increased numbers of jobs created by any expansion, and the fact that many frequent flyers may see living near a major airport as a bonus means that expansion may have a positive impact on house prices.
